I keep seeing pictures of these padlocks around the internet, in NY, Paris, these in Seoul. It’s a charming meme.
In this June 13, 2010 photo, a couple take a photograph in front of thousands of pad locks that decorate the fences surrounding the landmark of the N Seoul Tower, in Namsan Mountain in central Seoul, South Korea. The locks, symbolizing everlasting love and friendship, first appeared in the late 1990’s and are now in the tens of thousands, hung in a cult-like ritual with notes and photos from visiting lovers and friends.
