salt water taffy ~ wish i had some right now  :)
A staple of any visit to the boardwalk, salt water taffy originated in Atlantic City in the late 1800s. Popularized by rival confectioners Joseph Fralinger and Enoch James (both of whose stores are still in business in A.C. today), the sweet, soft and sticky treats spread up and down the shore and now can be found in any Jersey seaside town, from Ocean City to Cape May. There’s no real salt water in the taffy; it’s just a clever name.
